Sixteen year old Sebah looses everything she ever knew because of a giant flood.  Sebah and a boy, Aban, live in the trees until the water gets so high they are forced to build a raft.  After a few days of living on a raft, they come face to face with a giant ark.  Sevah is able to climb aboard but Aban is too weak and sick to climb on the ark.  Sebah decides to live she must climb on board  with her cat, Screamer.   The ark is filled with animals of all kinds.  Sebah lives in a stall that she shares with two bonobos.  She thinks the food- mongers are dangerous so she stays hidden in the hay when they come around. Later, she is discovered but no one believes that there is someone on board who is not family. This all happens in the book Storm, by Donna Jo Napoli.

Opinion:

Exciting, scary, and wonderful all describe this book.  It is one of those books that once you pick it up you don't ever want to put it down. Once Sebah was on board there was not as much action but I knew if she was discovered things would not go well for her.  This kept me reading to find out what happened. My favorite part is when Sebah is living in a tree because you could not imagine how she could stay alive and when her next meal would come.  I think the author did a great job of making this story seem as if it was really happening.  I know all of these things did not happen to Noah and his family but it did make me think I was living on the Ark with them.
