How would you feel if everything you love is taken away from you? Jake Sheppard has endured many hardships over a short period of time. He has a best friend, who betrays him and bullies him every day.  He wants nothing more than to be happy; his father left his mother and him alone with no one to take care of them. Jake is faced with trials and tribulations, and along with the fact that he lost his best friend, his Papa. His Papa cared for him, he could tell everything that went on during his day that he couldn’t tell anyone else, which made their relationship that more special. Although his mother wants nothing more than for Jake to be happy, she can’t seem to do anything right. This is the story about Jake's journey through life's hardships.

Opinion:

I liked writing this review. This book taught me a lot of how family can overcome hardships. I would definitely recommend this book to young adult readers; this is a well written story about family and hardships, and how to overcome trials. This book shows people that even when life seems to be against you, real friendships are the ones who get you through anything.
